Geoff Coleman enjoying a drink after a superb round of 42 points to win B grade

Central West vets golf report for game played at Bathurst July1

Hi everyone,

Some housekeeping to begin with - one of our very good members left a pitching wedge behind on the 8th or the 13th green. If any one has picked it up, could you drop me an email or send me a message so that it can be returned to its owner.

Back to golf. A good field of 83 vet golfers played a round of vet’s golf at the Bathurst golf course on a day that deliver weather wise, a lot more than expected for this time of the year. It was a clear blue-sky day without the fog or frost that Bathurst is renowned for.

Unfortunately, the recent rain had saturated the fairways, and it was hard going with tight-lies and mud-balls the order of the day. However, we soon forgot our golf course perils with a very nice lunch and some socialising at the end of the game.

As it is usually the case local knowledge goes a long way when the going is tough, and Geoff Coleman from Bathurst used it to his full advantage to win B grade with a very impressive score of 42 points. Second place in B grade went to Malcolm Campbell from Duntry, with an excellent score of 39 points.

The winner in A grade was Darrell Bourke form Bathurst with 38 points. Darrell came home with a wet sail on the back nine scoring three birdies on his last four holes. Andre Schuster was second with 36 points.

The Ladies winner was Laurell Gassman from Wenty with 35 points.

The ball sweep went down to 30 points, and the nearest to the pin winners were, Geoff Coleman on the 4th, Phil Reed on the 8th, Robyn Forrester on the 13th and Laurell Gassman on the 16th.
