Central West vets golf report for Wenworth March 17

Hi everyone

A big field of 92 Central West vets went to Wentworth Golf club to play the rained off game of February 10 and the Gods of Golf made us welcome with a beautiful Autumn Day. No rain, no 30-degree heat, just a very pleasant 25 degrees to unsure we could enjoy our golf game. 

The one golfer who enjoyed his game more than most was none other than Malcolm Campbell who took out the winner’s prize in B grade with the best score of the day of 43 points. Malcolm had an excellent first nine of 23 points and he continued his good form with a solid 20 points on the second nine.

Second on B grade was Colin Foster with 35 points.

The winner in A grade was Graeme Walker with a score of 40 points. Graeme played very solid golf throughout his round with two equal nines of 20 points that included 10 pars and one birdie. 

Second in A grade Doug Westcott with 37 points

The ladies’ comp winner was Judith Brewer with 36 points. Judith started off slowly for 16 points on the first nine but she soon made-up ground with an excellent 20 points on the second nine.

The highlight of the today’s round was an eagle on the 12th hole by Gerard O’Neill who will receive 4 balls for his effort.

The ball sweep went down to 31 points on a countback and the nearest to the pin winners were William Cowell on the 5th,Graeme Walker on the 6th, Neil McFarlane on the 13th and David Phillips and Anne Field shared a ball each on the 17th when they both had equal distance of 5 meters.

Next Central West vets, game will be at Bathurst on Monday March 24.
