Central West vets enjoyng a nice lunch at Wentworth Country Club after the game

Central West vets’ golf report for game played at Wentworth, September 30

Hi everyone,

A very strong field of 101 Central West vet golfers had the pleasure of having a game of golf and enjoy the facilities of the new Wentworth Country Club clubhouse. It has been a few years since the burning down of the old clubhouse, but the wait has been worth it. The new building provides stunning facilities to the members and amazing views of the golf course.

As always, we were cordially welcome by the Proshop staff on arrival and we enjoyed a very nice lunch of roast pork and bake vegetable after the game.

On to golf results

Anne Field showed everyone how to play the Wentworth golf course with an amazing 41 points, the best score of the day, to take out first place in the ladies comp.

A count back was required to determine the winners in A grade when Peter Laffey and David Harvey both returned scores of 40 points. Peter had a solid start of 18 points on the first nine and came home with 22 points on the back nine to win the countback. David’s game was a reversal of Peters, he started strongly with 22 points but couldn’t sustain the effort on the back nine scoring 18 points.

The B grade winner was Jeremy Tadman with 40 points. Jeremy started off slowly with 17 points but made amends on the next nine with 23 points. John Tarleton also played excellent golf to get second spot with two solid nines of 18 and 21 for 39 points.

The ball sweep went down to 34 points on a countback and the nearest pin winners were Peter Moad on the 3rd and 17th, Rob Mihalovic on the 5th and Dennis Duncan on the 17th.

Next Central West vets’ game will be at Oberon on Monday, October 14. Oberon is a walk up start so be there between 8:00 to 9:00am to get a game. You can call the club on 02 6336 0262 to book a cart if you need one.

Good golfing everyone
