Central West vets Captain David Agst reading out the winning scores at Canowindra Golf club
Central West vets golf report for game played at Canowindra, March 10
Hi everyone,
The Central West vets took a trip to Canowindra golf club to play a round of Central West vets’ golf. The number of players was a bit lower than usual with only 43 players starting the game which was a disappointing because the course was in excellent condition. The dry weather had flattened out the kikuyu grass providing good run on the fairways and the greens were firm and true to line.
As it is always the case at Canowindra, we were cordially welcome on arrival with an excellent morning tea and a barbecue lunch and salad after the game.
On to golf results.
The winner on the day was Ray Williamson from Duntryleague with a good score of 39 points. Second was Ian Fitzgerald from Bathurst, a newcomer to vets’ golf, with a score of 38 points. Due to the low numbers, we only had 1st and 2nd place for the men’s comp.
Helen McSpadden from Canowindra was the winner in the ladies’ comp with 37 points.
The ball sweep went down to 32 points. There were not nearest to the pin markers available.
Next Central West Vets game will be at Wentworth on Monday March 17 . This is the catch-up game for the rained off game on February 10.
You will need to call the Proshop on 6361 4505 to book a starting time and hire a cart if you need one.
Good golfing everyone
