Dale Salter celebrating his big win with friends

Central West vets golf report for game played at Blayney, February 3

Hi everyone,

A good field of 51 Central West veteran golfers took on the challenge of playing the Blayney golf course. We were welcome on arrival by Ted Dell and his group of volunteers with a nice morning tea and he happily took our orders for gourmet pies or sausage roll for a welcome snack after the game.

The course was in very good condition, providing lots of run on the fairways if you were able to hit the ball on the right path, but Blayney notorious greens kept everyone honest with putting demanding full concentration if you wanted to score well.

The best on the day was local identity Dale Salter with and excellent 42 points. Second was Stuart Vaughan from Wentworth with 38 points. A countback was required to decide third place when Rodney Smith from Nelson Bay and Darrell Timms from Duntryleague returned scores of 35 points. Rodney’s 21 points on the last nine holes got him over the line for a voucher with Darryll having to settle for a ball on the ball sweep.

The ball sweep went down to 31 points. There were not nearest to the pin put out so extra balls were given in the ball sweep.

Next Central West game will be at Wentworth on Monday February 10.

You will need to call the Proshop on 02 6361 4505 to get a starting time and a cart.

Until then, may the Gods of golf be kind to you.
