The beautiful Oberon Golf course

Central West vets golf report for game played at Oberon July 22

Hi everyone,

Considering the cold weather, a reasonable field of 38 Central west vet golfers played a round of vet’s golf at Oberon golf course. The weather was cold but how can anyone complain when you can enjoy the beautiful scenery that Oberon golf course has to offer.

The course was in excellent condition with good growth of grass on the fairways that stop stray shots from going in the rough and greens of very good pace.

As always, the hospitality provided by Oberon was excellent. We were welcome to the club with a nice cup of tea or coffee before the game and a selection of five choices from the lunch menu after the game.

On with the game results.

Word of advice before I begin, “check your handicap with golflink when you visit another club” We had to disqualify a player who could have won a voucher, because he played off a handicap higher than he should have.

A three-way count was required to decide the winners of today’s comp when Noel Wright, Mario Mastronardi and Alan Orton all returned scores of 32 points. After some very careful examination of the cards Noel was given first place with Mario getting second and Alan Orton settling for third place.

The ladies’ comp winner was Robyn Stapleton with a score of 37 which was the best score of the day.

The nearest to the pin winners were Ryan Critchlow on the 1st, Andre Schuster on the 9th and Darryn Bruce on the 17th.

Results and ball sweep.

Next game of Central West vets’ golf will be at Wellington on Monday, July 29
