Central West vets game report for Wellington, October 21

Hi everyone,

A very good field of 60 Central West vets made a trip to Wellington Golf club to take part in a round of Central West vets’ golf. The weather was good, the morning tea on arrival and light lunch after the game was very welcome and the golf course was in very good condition. The fairways provided good run and the comments about the greens were that they were best they have ever seen them. I agree with the comments.

Good weather, good fairways and excellent greens are a good recipe for good golf and good scores and so it was with players needing to score 33 points or more just to get a ball on the ball sweep.

The best score of the day belong to David Nichols who tally up 42 points to be the winner in A grade. Not far behind was David Ryan who took out second spot with 39 points.

In B grade the winner was Colin Tarn with 38 points with Ryan Critchlow taking out second place with 37 points.

The ladies’ competition winner was Laurell Gassman on a countback from Jan Moad when they both returned cards of a very respectable 34 points.

The ball sweep went down to 33 points and the nearest to the pin winners were Peter Chaffey on the 3rd after he chipped in the hole from 20 meters. Judith Brewer was the closest on the 8th and Tony Gassman took out the 16th.

My present information is that it will be a walk up start so get there between 8:00 and 9:30 to get a game. I will let you know if there is a change the starting times arrangement.

Until then, may the Gods of golf be kind to you.
