Executive reports for 2025
Central West Veterans Golf Association President’s Report 2024.
I can’t believe it is twelve months since I last wrote a president’s report; this year has flown by.
Everything being considered, I think most members would agree that we have had a very successful and enjoyable year of veteran’s golf. The weather gods have been very kind to us with only one game having to be postponed throughout the year’s programme.
The courses we have played on, have all been in excellent condition due mainly to the hard-working greenkeepers and the many dedicated volunteers at each club. A wet Winter followed by an excellent Spring has resulted in great growing conditions which is evident in the way all the courses have been presented.
For any club, such as ours to be successful, a number of members have to contribute in a number of ways. Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the contribution of all seven of the delegates of each of the clubs at which we play. Their voluntary help is very much appreciated.
Our dedicated and reliable secretary, Manual Pro, does a fantastic job. I know I speak for all members when I thank him for his organisation and dedication. Captain David Agst has done a great job throughout the year and has been very easy to work with. Treasurer Ian Kind has not enjoyed the best of health but has continued to do our banking and keep our finances up to date. For this, we are very grateful.
Finally, I would like to thank all the members of our club who have supported us and had a game of golf at our great venues. The friendly banter, the good will and the camaraderie amongst players is great to see. Your support throughout the year was very much appreciated and let’s hope 2025 will bring another successful year for Central West Veterans’ golf.
Wishing all members a healthy and safe year ahead and try not to hit that little ball too many times.
John Cowell
President
Central West vets Captain’s AGM 2024 report.
To all the Central West Veteran golfers. I hope the year has been good to you all and that 2025 turns out to be even better.
I would like to thank all the golf clubs who entertain us oldies a number of times throughout the year. I feel it is giving something back to all of us who have supported our golf clubs for a lot of years. It is also a huge financial help to the smaller clubs without financial backing. So, I would ask our golfing fraternity to support these clubs at every meeting. All the courses are in terrific condition each time we turn up which shows the dedication of staff and volunteers.
The welcome we get, and the great lunches supplied is hugely appreciated.
The number of golfers has increased with the warmer weather, and it is good to see a rise in the number of lady golfers.
It was pleasing to finally play at the new Wentworth club and enjoy a great lunch in their won-derful new building. Wentworth and Bathurst have always supported the Vets and hopefully this will continue.
On a final note, thanks to our committee for their work during the year and a special mention to Manuel who keeps us up to date on all the news.
Dave Agst,
Captain.
Central West Vets Secretary’s AGM report for 2024
Hi everyone,
I am happy to report another very successful year of Central West Vets’ golf in 2024.
The weather was very kind to us, and we were able to complete the 28 games scheduled for the year resulting in a 7% increase per game of member participation. Average attendance in 2023 was 60 players per game, in 2024 it increased to 64 players.
Membership has also increased by 10%. We presently have 209 members compare to 109 members in 2023.
As members of the Central West Vets’ we have the benefit of playing some of the best and most chal-lenging courses of the Central West on Mondays, and as you can see from the table below, we also generated $51,000 of much welcome income for the associated club last year.
In many cases, we are a financial lifeline to the smaller clubs, so it is very important that we continue to support them.
Members also enjoyed some of the benefits with $4,000 given out as vouchers to the comp winners and some 722 balls given out on the ball sweeps.
The email reports have been a very successful concept to keep members informed of game results and last-minute news and information. We send emails with game reports to 220 members and 80% of them are open on a regular basis which is a very good strike rate. Don’t forget that you can also see the reports, plus photos and the latest news on our webpage www.cwvetsgolf.com
In concluding, I would like to acknowledge President John Cowell, Captain David Agst, Treasurer Ian Kind and all the other club delegates for the work they put in throughout the year to ensure that all Central West veteran golfers can enjoy our wonderful game of vet’s golf on Mondays
Also, a big thank you to all Club Managers, Board members and course, bar, catering and Proshop staff of participating host clubs for the wonderful support they have given us throughout 2023-24, it has been very much appreciated.
Good golfing everyone and may the Gods of Golf be kind to you.
Manuel Pro
Secretary
